Mert Yeşilmenderes was born in Istanbul in 1994 and began taking piano lessons at the age of ten. A few months later he gave his first public concert at the 2nd International Pera Piano Festival in Istanbul. After on, he worked with Renan Koen, Ali Darmar and Zeynep Yamantürk and was able to study at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul State Conservatory with Prof. Ece Demirci and Prof. Selen Bucak. During these years Gülsin Onay (State Artist and one of Turkey's leading pianists) also gave Mert Yeşilmenderes further decisive artistic impetus. After his education in Turkey, he was allowed to develop further with a pedagogical and artistic focus at the Lübeck University of Music. Prof. Konstanze Eickhorst admitted him to her class and remained his most important mentor during his studies. He also had here the opportunity to work chamber music with the world-famous clarinetist Prof. Sabine Meyer.
Mert Yeşilmenderes has taken part in numerous masterclasses given by different pianists and pedagogues. Examples include courses with Konstanze Eickhorst, Gülsin Onay, Julian Gorus, Peter Katin, Lilya Zilberstein, Ragna Schirmer, Johann Schmidt, Markus Groh, Ewa Kupiec, Silke Avenhaus, Hüseyin Sermet, Birgitta Wollenweber, Misha Dacic, Ilya Itin, Muza Rubackyte, Stephane Blet and Gilead Mishory. At the piano competition held as part of the 1st Ahmed Adnan Saygun Music Festival in Izmir, he was awarded with the prize for “Best Saygun Interpreter” and at the 10th International Piano Competition Pera with the “Mention Prize”.
Mert Yeşilmenderes gives many solo recitals and chamber music concerts in Turkey and Northern Germany. His concert recordings and interviews have been broadcast several times on Turkish radio. In 2015 he was allowed to perform together with Gülsin Onay as part of the "Akbank Sanat" concert series "Masters and Students". Mert Yeşilmenderes, who has been teaching piano at Kreismusikschule Ostholstein since 2019 and continuing his concert activities, also continues to publish articles and interviews periodically at Turkey's leading classical music magazine Andante.
