Zeynep Simge Acunaz Eytemiz

Zeynep Simge Acunaz Eytemiz, born in Izmir, began her violin studies with Lecturer Kartal Akıncı at the Dokuz Eylül University (D.E.U.) State Conservatory. She continued her education in high school with Professor Melek Göküstün. Throughout her student years, she gave successful performances both in Turkey and abroad. In 2009, she graduated from Prof. Jerrold Rubensteins class and continued her studies with Professor Ellen Jewett during 2011-2012. In 2015, she completed her masters degree at D.E.U.s Institute of Fine Arts as a student of Prof. Joshua Epstein.

As the concertmaster of the National Youth Symphony Orchestra under Cem Mansurs direction, she performed in concerts in Bursa, Istanbul, and Berlin. As the second concertmaster of the International Animato Youth Symphony Orchestra led by Howard Griffiths, she performed in Bratislava (Reduta), Graz (Stefaniensaal), Bern (Kultur-Casino), Berlin (Konzerthaus Berlin), Prague (Smetana Hall), and Vienna (Wiener Konzerthaus). In another tour with the same orchestra, she worked as the second concertmaster under conductors Thierry Fischer and Pierre Bleuse, performing in several European cities. She represented her country with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Peace Melodies under the direction of Aram Talalyan in the Armenian cities of Gyumri and Vanadzor. That same year, she participated in numerous festival concerts in Georgia with the Travelling Notes Youth Symphony Orchestra and attended workshops led by Professor Natalia Gabunia. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Dokuz Eylul Symphony Orchestra, Concerto Barocco Chamber Orchestra, Travelling Notes Festival Orchestra, and Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra. Her chamber music career has included performances with Olten Quartet, Rey Quartet, Davos Music Festival Chamber Orchestra, and Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra.
 
From 2009 to 2012, she was a guest artist with the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra. She served as concertmaster of the Olten Philharmonic Orchestra from 2013 to 2014 and was a guest artist with the Çukurova Symphony Orchestra from 2012 to 2016. Between 2014 and 2017, she performed as a member of the Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra, collaborating with renowned conductors such as İbrahim Yazıcı, Rengim Gökmen, and Howard Griffiths. In 2014-2015 and again in 2017, she proudly represented her country at the International Davos Music Festival, where she also participated in chamber music workshops with Professor Eberhard Feltz.

From 2015 to 2018, she worked as an instructor in the Violin Department at the D.E.U. State Conservatorys String Instruments Division. Between 2016 and 2023, she taught the course “Eras and Composers in Music” at Izmir University of Economics. In 2020, under the guidance of Professor Ebru Güner Canbey and in the class of Ildiko Moog, she successfully completed her Doctorate of Arts at the D.E.U. Institute of Fine Arts.
 
Currently, she is pursuing a second degree in Sociology at Izmir Democracy University. Zeynep Simge Acunaz Eytemiz is an Associate Professor and head of the String Instruments Division at the D.E.U. State Conservatory, continuing to perform in concerts both nationally and internationally.
