Ümran Çetinavcı

Ümran Çetinavcı, a final-year student in the Musicology Department at Istanbul State Conservatory, Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, completed her secondary education at Hakkı Dereköylü Fine Arts High School, where she studied violin and piano. 
 
During her education, the young musicologist was actively involved not only in academic fields but also in various disciplines of music. She participated in the Mozart Academy 4th Izmir Polyphonic Choirs Festival and the 12th National Children's Choir Festival, and participated in the International Ayvalık Choir Festival (2018).
 
During her eight years of music education, she studied Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic period music with Dr. Esin Uçarsu, and 19th and 20th
century music with Prof. Dr. İlke Boran., Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods; with Prof. Dr. İlke Boran, he studied 19th and 20th century music. With Prof. Dr. Kıvılcım Yıldız Acar, he studied musicology, and with Prof. Dr. Elif Damla Yavuz on the historical process of opera music from its beginnings to the present day. She studied form/structure in music with Prof. Dr. Erdem Çöloğlu and Prof. Ali Ahmet Altınel, and music theory and solfège with Assoc. Prof. Deniz Arat Yaşat and Dr. Esin Uçarsu.
 
Viewing music as a language of communication, Çetinavcı focuses on the music of Romantic and Modern period composers, conducting research on these periods.
 
Adopting a subjective approach in her work, Ümran Çetinavcı prefers to examine the individual and social dimensions of musical expression through these periods. She is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree in musicology and continues her studies to specialise in the academic field.
