Ahmet Makal is a retired faculty member of the Faculty of Political Science at Ankara University. His primary academic interest is the social history/labor history of Turkey. He has published numerous books and contributed many articles to various journals. Ahmet Makal was awarded the 2003 Sedat Simavi Social Sciences Award for his book, Labor Relations in the Multi-Party Period in Turkey: 1946-1963. Viewing science and art as two complementary aspects of life, Makal is interested in art, particularly music, alongside his academic work. He possesses one of the largest and highest-quality classical music recording collections in Turkey. Since 1996, he has been producing the classical music program Yorumlar Yorumcular for TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation), broadcast on Radio-3. Yorumlar Yorumcular received the "Radio-TV Program of the Year" award at the 2013 Donizetti Classical Music Awards. Over the years, Ahmet Makal has published more than 130 music articles in various publications including Radikal İki, Andante, Sanattan Yansımalar and others.
