On 15th October at 12:30 the EMCY Prize winner Can Çakmur will perform a lunchtime recital at the prestigious Muziekgebouw Eindhoven (Netherlands).
Can Çakmur was born 1997 in Ankara and though his young age, he has already won several awards and prizes at renowned competitions. Highlight was his performance in the concert rounds at the EMCY member Pianale Junior Academy in Schlitz, where he was awarded a scholarship for 2014 and 2015 academies as well as the EMCY-Prize. In November 2014 he won the third prize and Bartók special prize at EMCY´s 4th Franz Liszt International Piano Competition for Young Pianists.
After being a finalist at "X. Les Recontres Internationales des Jeunes Pianistes" in 2010, held in Belgium, he was invited by the president of the foundation Musica Aeterna, Diane Andersen to the masterclasses organised by the foundation. Since then he has worked with distinguished musicians such as Ewa Kupiec, Arie Vardi and Alan Weiss. Since 2009 he has been studying with Emre Sen.
He has won the first prize at XXII. Rome International Piano Competition. Since 2012, Cakmur has given numerous recitals in embassies such as Belgian and Luxembourgian Embassies in Ankara, German Consulate in Istanbul and Turkish Embassy in Vienna. He has been invited to festivals such as Antalya International Piano Festival, Ankara International Music Festival and Notti Romana al Teatro di Marcello.
In 2013, he was admitted in the project "Güher & Süher Pekinel Young Musicians on the World Stages". He performed the opening concert of the season 2014-2015 of Eskisehir Municipality Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Ender Sakpinar and he was awarded "Young Musician of the Year" at 5. Donizetti Classical Music Awards in Turkey.
In 2015, he performed the opening concert of 43. Istanbul Music Festival with Borusan Istanbul Philarmony Orchestra under the baton of Sascha Goetzel. Cakmur has received artistic guidance from Marcella Crudeli and Jun Kanno. Now he pursues his Bachelor studies at Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar with Grigory Gruzman and continues his studies with Diane Andersen in Begium.
Can Çakmur, being a part of the project "G & S Pekinel Young Musicians on the World Stages", is supported by TURPAS.
