Cellist Nil Kocamangil at Concertgebouw

Cellist Nil Kocamangil will play at Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) on 27th September 2015, at 2:30 p.m.
And earlier in the day, at 10 a.m., she will be on air at the Dutch National Radio.

Kocamangil's Concertgebouw concert will cover a programme of works by Schumann, Debussy and Brahms.
She will be on stage with the Japanese pianist Noriko Yabe.

Chosen to hold a concert tour by "The Holland International Music Sessions-2014" Committee, Kocamangil will also play on the following dates in Holland:

 
28 September 2015 - Hervormde Kerk Den Hoorn (Texel) - 7 p.m.
29 September 2015 - Theater Odeon Zwolle - 8 p.m.


About Nil Kocamangil

Born in 1989 in Istanbul, one of the leading Turkish cellist Nil Kocamangil pursued her cello studies since the age of 9 in the cello classes of Dilbag Tokay (MSFAUSC, Istanbul), Claus Kanngiesser (Hfmt Köln) Marc Coppey (CNSM de Paris) and Gautier Capuçon (FLV, Paris). At the moment she is continuing her chamber music masters with Trio Milhaud in the class of Itamar Golan (CNSM de Paris) and with Hades Quartet in the class of Prof. Miguel Da Silva (CRR de Paris) as a scholar of Tekfen Foundation.

 
Since she made her debut concert as a soloist with orchestra at the age of 15, she performed the well-known works of the cello repertoire with the orchestras such as; Mannheimer Philharmoniker, Sinfonietta Köln, Olten Philarmonie Orchestra, Oberbergisches Kreises Symphonie Orchester, Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Eskisehir Anatolia Symphony Orchestra, Philarmonia Istanbul, Bursa Region State Symphony Orchestra, Mersin University Academic Orchestra.

 
Besides of her appearances at the world famous concert venues such as Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Théâtre du Chatelet, she has performed as soloist and chamber musician at the outstanding festivals such as; “Istanbul Music Festival”, “Verbier Festival”, “Euregio MusikFestival”, “Gumusluk Classical Music Festival”,  “Amsterdam Chamber Music Festival”, “Sommer-Schlosser Virtuosen”, “D-Marin Turgutreis International Music Festival”, “Ayvalik International Music Festival”, “Cappadoccia Music Festival” and across the Europe and America. Also she has collaborated with the artists such as; Isabelle van Keulen, Nina Tichman, Ellen Jewett, Atilla Aldemir, Ariadne Daskalakis among the others.

 
She won various awards at many international and national competitions, such as 3rd prize and Jury Special Award in “Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition” in Croatia, 1st prize and German Friendship Special Award in “International Austrian and German Music Competition“ in Bulgaria, 1st prize and the Jury Special Award in “International Young Musicians Competition” in Italy, 1st prize in “Canetti International Music Festival” in Turkey, 2nd prize in “National Cello Competition” in Turkey, 2nd prize in “International Young Musicians Classical Music Competition” in Turkey, 3rd prize in “Liezen International Cello Competition” in Austria, 3rd prize in “Nusret Kayar Cello Competition” in Turkey. Also she received the Prix du Musée Bonnat and the prize of Saint Jean de Luz - Rotary/Lions Club, in two different years she participated to the “Maurice Ravel International Music Academy”  in France.

 
At the renown academies and some workshops she had the opportunity to work with distinguished cellists such as Gary Hoffman, Frans Helmerson, Yo-Yo Ma, Steven Isserlis, Laurence Lesser, Maria Kliegel, Jens Peter Maintz, Philippe Muller, Peter Bruns among others. Also as a passionate chamber musician she worked with important artist such as Gabor Takacs Nagy, Klaus Hellwig, James Buswell, Carol Ou, Vladimir Mendelssohn, members of Quatuor Ebene among others.

 
During her studies, she was the scholar and laureate of many foundations such as Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), Dr. Nejat Eczacıbası Foundation, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation, Sinfonima Foundation/Mannheim (instrument), Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now, Association des Jeunes Talents and she was also supported by the private sponsors. At the moment she still gives concert as the scholars of Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation and Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz and plays on an Italian cello (1830) kindly on loan to her by a private sponsor.

 
Recently she has recorded the “Swan” of C. Saint-Saens as soloist with Mannheim Philharmoniker under the baton of Boian Videnoff for their debut CD called “Träumerei” which will be released in November 2015 by Sony. Her 2015/2016 season engagements includes, New Master on Tour series by TIHMS (as recitals in four different concerts halls of Holland including Amsterdam Concertgebouw); Bosphorus University Alber Long Hall concert (as Quatuor Hades); J. Haydn’s D Major Concerto with Anatolian Symphonic Orchestra and Orchestra Academic Baskent, E. Bloch’s “Schelomo” with Bursa Region State Symphony Orchestra, recital at Sureyya Opera Hall Istanbul and many others.
