Levent Bakırcı, a baritone from Turkey will perform in a quite rare work from Luigi Dallapiccola, Il Prigioniero (The Prisoner) at Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse on dates 2-3-6-9-11 October 2015.

About Levent Bakırcı
Levent Bakırcı has graduated from Middle East Technical University's Mechanical Engineering Department in 2003. He took voice lessons from Oylun Pirolli between 2000-2004. In 2002 he took the “ideneo singer” price in the As.Li.Co. Competition in Milan with his performence in Rossini's
Guglielmo Tell. In 2003, he became a finalist in Siemens Voice Competition and Maria Kraja Voice Competition (Tirana Albania), in 2005. He was semi finalist in Operalia Domingo's Operalia competition 2006 and Competizione dell'opera Dresden in 2008.
From 2003 to 2005, he appeared on stage as a soloist of the Istanbul State Opera and Ankara State Opera in the roles of the Belcore in
L´elisir d´amore, Starek in
Jenufa and Mandarino in
Turandot. In 2006 Bakırcı made his debut in Teatro Verdi Trieste with the part of Cecco in
Il mondo della luna by G.Paisiello.
Bakırcı studied at Accademia d'arte lirica Osimo (Ancona Italy) in 2005 and than was resident artist in accalaimed Academy of vocal arts AVA in Philadelphia (with scholarship of AVA and Eczacibasi foundation) from 2006 until 2008 where he performed Prince Ottokar from in
Der Freischütz and different sacred music concerts with AVA Orchestra. In the summer of 2008 Bakırcı sang the role of Enrico from
Lucia di Lammermoor by G. Donizetti for IVAI in Tel Aviv Israil. In the same year he engaged to Theater Bremen with the role of Cahit from
Gegen die Wand by Ludger Vollmer. In Theater Bremen where he was a ensemble member until 2011, Bakırcı sang the roles Figaro from
Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Giovanni, Eugene Onegin, Sharpless from
Madama Butterfly, Ping from
Turandot, Dr. Falke from
Die Fledermaus.
In 2011 Bakırcı made his debut in Oper Stuttgart with role of Cahit from
Gegen die Wand. In the season 2012/2013 Bakırcı was an ensemble member of Theater Bielefeld where he sang the title role of “Eugene Onegin”, Dr. Falke from
Die Fledermaus, 2 roles in the new modern production
Orlando, the baritone part from Gabriel Faure's
Requiem and J. S. Bach's
Magnificat.
Bakırcı sang in the new opera
Seelentore by Jörg Krah in Wienmodern in 2013, and in 2014 Bakırcı guested Theater Aachen with a role of Figaro from
Il barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini. He is resident artist in Staatstheater Nürnberg, where he will soon perform in various operas, in important roles such as Il Conte (
Le Nozze di Figaro), Marcello (La Bohème); Escamillo (
Carmen), Dr. Falke (
Yarasa) and Don Giovanni.
