Veriko Tchumburidze got a new violin



Young violonist Veriko Tchumburidze, who is supported by Güher-Süher Pekinels “Young Musicians on World Stages” project, has been selected from 51 participants within the “24th Competition of Deutsche Musikinstrumentenfond” and has now the honour to play on a violin made by Giambattista Guadagnini in 1756, which is provided her by the generosity of the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”.

Born in Adana in 1996, Veriko Tchumburidze began her studies at Mersin University State Conservatory at the age of four as a student of Selahattin Yunkuş.

She won first prize at the Gülden Turalı National Violin Competition in 2004 and first prize at the Georgian National Competition in 2006. She has performed as soloist with Eskişehir and Bursa State Symphony Orchestras and the MEU Academic Chamber Orchestra. She studied at Mersin University State Conservatory as student of Lili Tchumburidze and continued her studies in 2010 with Prof. Dora Schwarzberg as scholar of the “Young Musicians on World Stages” project created by Güher & Süher Pekinel (YMWS) with financial support of Tüpraş, at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna.

In September 2012, she won first prize at the “7th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians” with the highest score and consensus of the jury; accordingly she was invited to several international concerts and festivals in different countries as Russia, Switzerland and Germany. İn 2013 she was invited to participate in the “Seiji Ozawa Academy master class” and the “Verbier Festival” in Switzerland to continue her studies with the famous violinist and pedagogue Ana Chumachenco, with whom she worked together at the “International Summer Academy of Music Lenk”. Tchumburidze worked also with Prof. Igor Ozim at “Youth Classics Masterclasses & Festival” and with Prof. Dora Schwarzberg at the “International Summer Academy”. At least she took part as Trio at the “ECMA Academy” Masterclass in Oslo. 

Tchumburidze was selected as “Best Emerging Musician” by Andante music magazine in Turkey in 2013 and performed at the opening concert of the “41th Istanbul Music Festival” with the Borusan Symphony Orchestra.
In March 2014 she took part in a DVD recording of the YMWS concert at Zurich Tonhalle. Immediately thereafter she was invited to perform with the Swiss Chamber Orchestra in Lucerne KKL. After this concert she was chosen by “Orpheum Musik Stiftung” Zürich, which prepares extraordinary musicians for a world career, to release a CD series, on the occasion of Orpheum’s 25th anniversary in cooperation with Sony Classics, together with the Munich Chamber Orchestra under the baton of conductor Howard Griffiths. In January 2016 she performed in Kaufleuten/Switzerland to promote the CD and realized various interviews with the most important international press. İn January 2016 Tchumburidze has also recorded  John Williams’ “Schindler List” a film music CD for Rondeau/Klanglogo Leipzig together with the “Brandenburgisches Kammerorchester” and Howard Griffiths. Due to her performances, Tchumburidze was elected by Orpheum Stiftung to headline the “Zürich Opernhaus Film Festival” Opening Concert on 1st October 2016.

As first Turkish musician ever, Tchumburidze was accepted to participate in 2015 at the most famous “XV İnternational Tchaikovsky Competition”. İn the same year she performed as “Young Musicians on World Stages” scholar at the “Vehbi Koç Award Ceremony” and at the Boğaziçi Albert Long Hall, Notre Dame de Sion Concert Hall as well as “D-Marin Classical Music Festival”. Furthermore she played as soloist and as YMWS Trio together with the Izmir and İstanbul State Symphony Orchestra. İn April 2016 she performed as YMWS Trio at the Süreyya Opera and Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall. Furthermore as YMWS Trio she realized “L.V. Beethoven Triple Concerto” together with the “Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey” in Ankara/Turkey. İn June 2016 Tchumburidze will take place as YMWS Trio at the İstanbul Music Festival (İKSV) together with world famous violist Gérard Caussé and will perform the world premiere of  renown composer Özkan Manavs’ work, specially written for this event.  
Having been accepted into the “Munich Musikhochschule”, Tchumburidze will continue her studies with Ana Chumachenco and will attend her master classes in various countries.

Tchumburidze plays on a violin made by Giambattista Guadagnini in 1756, which was provided her by the generosity of the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”.
